Atascocita High School Eagles Baseball

Building a Tradition of Excellence Since 2006

Since its establishment in 2006, the Atascocita High School Eagles Baseball Program has become one of the premier high school baseball programs in Texas. Known for developing elite talent and competing in one of the state’s most challenging regions, the Eagles have built a lasting legacy of excellence marked by strong leadership, consistent success, and postseason achievement.

Under the guidance of outstanding coaching, the Eagles have captured multiple district championships and made numerous deep playoff runs, firmly establishing themselves as a powerhouse in Texas Class 6A Baseball.

Program Milestones

One of the program’s early breakout seasons came in 2008 when the Eagles posted a 29–5 record. The 2014 season stands as one of the most successful in program history, highlighted by a 31–9 overall record and a dominant 14–1 performance in district play. That season culminated in a trip to the State Tournament at Dell Diamond in Round Rock, where the Eagles finished as State Semi-Finalists.

The 2025 season saw the Eagles win 33 games (most in program history), and marked a historic milestone as the Eagles advanced to the 6A Division I State Championship at Dell Diamond in Round Rock, Texas, facing Waco Midway High School. Although Atascocita fell 6–2 in the title game, the remarkable postseason journey represented a defining achievement under Head Coach Jeremy O’Neill and further elevated the program’s statewide reputation.

This success laid a strong foundation for the future, with Atascocita winning 6 district championships and qualifying for the playoffs in 19 of the school’s 20 seasons. Notable playoff runs include:

  • 2016 – Regional Finals
  • 2019 – Regional Semi-Finals
  • 2024 – Regional Quarterfinals
  • 2025 – State Final

Pipeline to College and Professional Baseball

Atascocita’s success extends beyond high school, serving as a proven pipeline for collegiate and professional talent. Since 2006, more than 130 Eagles have advanced to play college baseball, and 10 players have been selected in the Major League Baseball Draft.

Among them, Daniel Stumpf (2012, Kansas City Royals, 9th Round) became the program’s first alumnus to reach the Major Leagues, debuting with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2016 and later pitching for the Detroit Tigers from 2017–2019.

Other notable draftees include:

  • Alerick Soularie – 2020, Minnesota Twins, 2nd Round
  • Brice Matthews – 2023, Houston Astros, 1st Round
  • Kendall George – 2023, Los Angeles Dodgers, 1st Round

The 2023 MLB Draft was especially historic, with three Eagles selected — two in the first round (Matthews and George) and Matthew Linskey in the 16th round by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Notably, Kendall George became the first Atascocita graduate ever drafted directly out of high school.
